Water,
Water, Everywhere. . .
Our
water supplies are one of the major sources of environmental
toxins that can harm your body. In addition, a major
cause of health problems today stem from dehydration.
It is vitally important that we not only drink enough
water, but the water we drink is pure.
Inadequate
daily intake of water has be indicated in many conditions
ranging from constipation and asthma to stomach ulcers
and chronic inflammatory diseases. Often strong medications
are used to control symptoms when drinking water will
heal the body and cure the problem. By increasing your
daily water intake you can greatly improve your health.
A 150 pound person should drink a minimum of 64 oz.
per day (that's 1/2 gallon). Adjust the amount according
to your weight, roughly add one eight ounce glass for
every 25 pounds over 150 pounds you weigh, and add one
glass of water for every 25 pounds overweight you are
and would like to lose.
Some
Suggestions For Drinking Safe Water
-
Never
drink water that tastes like chlorine. Order bottled
water if you are eating out.
-
If
you buy bottled water from a water company, ask
for results of the tests that the company is required
to make available. Contact your local water district
and learn what is in your homes water.
-
.
Flush your pipes daily by letting water run for
three to five minutes in the morning, or after any
periods of disuse before drinking or using in food
preparation. "First draw" water has higher concentration
of contaminants and is more dangerous.
-
Avoid
using tap water for drinking or cooking. Impurities
from plumbing and hot-water tanks are leached out
into our water..
-
Use
bottled water only as a temporary solution. It is
much too expensive for regular use. Home water purifying
systems are a good investment. Look into a distiller
or reverse osmosis systems.
-
If
finances prohibit you from buying bottled water
or purchasing a filter, then set a couple of pitchers
of tap water out each night allowing the chlorine
to evaporate off before you drink or use it. The
chlorine is the most damaging chemical in our water.
